Who Needs a Gardener

Ha ha. I pruned the quince bush. Not three weeks later it sprouted three maddeningly long sprigs out its top. They can't have grown that long so quickly! They must have been tangled down among the other branches. In time, with rain and breezes, they shook themselves loose, and now look at them:

This bush is tall enough that even Craig cannot just clip those branches off. You have to do it with a long-handled pruner, or else you have to haul out the ladder. Eventually Craig did clip them, but not before I took the picture of the celery glasses that I wanted to use as an illustration in the history section. That picture was just what I wanted, but look out the window: those branches, once you notice them, are pretty distracting. This is the uncropped photo:
