Welcome to Pommelhouse
I posted the first draft of this website on December 1, 2003, which is 20 years to the day after we first moved in. That day in 1983 I headed out to our new house with a car full of bare necessities, my new house keys, and Pirate. I went by way of 2222, 360 and Spicewood Springs. The hills were gray with fine, cold rain.
I let us in. I had called ahead to have the utilities turned on, and the central heating (which we did not have in Hyde Park!) quickly began to warm the house. I let Pirate out the back door. I was so pleased to have a big yard with a five-foot cyclone fence. The three-foot fence at the house on Caswell could not begin to contain my athletic little dog, who loved to maraud and chase cars. At last, I thought, he would be safe.
I returned to the car to begin moving in. Pirate was waiting in front, having cleared the five-foot fence like it wasn’t there. He wasn’t sure I was there to stay, and he was not about to get left behind. Obviously he would continue to maraud at will.

Mischief on his mind
