2005 Reunion - Arrival
Despite dire warnings of heavy rain and cold temperatures, the weather for our 35th reunion was beautiful - cool and sunny for the whole weekend. A light mist blew through Saturday afternoon, but before we could seek shelter or raincoats it was gone.
I come to reunions for two reasons: to see a handful of best friends from my college days at Dewey House and to visit the campus itself. On May 20, 2005, I checked in at Alumnae House, which was looking festive with its white awnings, and then met Terry in front of Tyler, which would be headquarters for the Class of 1970. Terry was heading to her room for a short respite before the Friday night reunion dinner.
Thinking the good weather wouldn’t last, I left my car at Lawrence House, where I'd be staying, and took a walk across campus. Seeing Paradise Pond was like meeting up with an old and much-loved friend. I made my way past the President's house and through the Quad to Laura Scales, where the class of 1970 would meet for Cocktail Hour.

Lilac doesn't grow very well in Texas - you really never see it. Here, it was in glorious fragrant bloom.
