Spain
In November, 2004, we went to Spain for two weeks. We flew into Madrid and after a few days there, set out for the south.
From Cordoba to Granada, Nerja and Marbella to Seville, we bussed, walked and drove from one little out-of-the-way hotel to another, dining like a king and queen.
What a wonderful country. Spain has it all: major art collections, thousand-year-old fortresses, gardens, cathedrals, stunning landscapes, Moorish palaces, and parks.
All this is served up on a clean, efficient and sophisticated modern European infrastructure. The public transportation is a marvel. In the old parts of the cities, it is a pleasure to walk. Between cities, the roads were absolutely perfect.
I have organized all the pictures into slide shows. You can use the navigation at the right or follow the links at the bottom of the page to see it all in order.
We barely scratched the surface, but we did see many beautiful and fascinating things. I kept a running journal, as I always do when I travel. You can read about food, hotels, and minor adventures in the weblog throughout January. (Links are now collected on the right navigation of this album.)
