Sevilla

What a cool city. The barrio Santa Cruz is a maze of old, narrow, crooked streets surrounding the huge and impressive cathedral, Jardines de Murillo, and Reales Alcazares.
The cathedral sits on a large square where horse-drawn carriages wait for tourists. The Alcazar is on the other side of the square. Our hotel was tucked into the well hidden Plaza de los Venerables nearby.
We were in Sevilla on Thanksgiving. Our hotel (the Hosteria del Laurel) is primarily a popular restaurant. One hundred expatriate Americans booked the diningroom for Thanksgiving dinner. Thanksgiving, we were told at the desk, was an American holiday. We allowed as how we'd heard of that. So we were served in a quiet corner of the Hosteria's nearly empty bar.
Craig had delicious roast suckling pig. His dinner, excellent though it was, was totally upstaged by my stewed partridge, which was quite possibly the best thing either of us had ever tasted.
