Lost in the Barrio Santa Cruz
You have to see what it’s like to try and find your way around in the barrio. Just flip through these pictures. Only one shows any street signs - can you see them? When you finally see our hotel (9), it is labeled “Hotel” - but which hotel? There are dozens.

We were walking into the city center from the train station, rolling our suitcases behind us. We got within about, oh, 50 meters of our hotel and found a sign pointing toward it (supposedly). We followed the arrow. It must have been close to an hour before we found the excellent Hosteria del Laurel.
We had a good map! And yet we walked back and forth, back and forth in this charming maze. The sign shows a straight arrow; Craig said it should be tied in knots. Worth the hunt, though. We really liked the place, both hotel and restaurant. Below, Craig studies a map before we venture back out.
