In the evening, the beach was beautiful and the water tempting, but the occasional dark shapes of prowling sharks kept us dry.

COZUMEL

These are o-o-o-ld pictures. We were in Cozumel for a week in 1979. We stayed on the leeward west coast of the island, as did everyone in those days. The water was calm, clear and turquoise. There's no need to dive. You can see all the little colorful fishies with a mask and snorkel. We were just a pleasant walk on a good road from the little town. One day, we rented a jeep and drove over to the wilder and deserted east coast of the island.
